What is the No Surprise Act?

Beginning January 2022

Healthcare providers and healthcare facilities now are required to inform clients who are not enrolled in insurance plans or covered by a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their insurance plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability at the time of scheduling. Must receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) of expected charges for services. Section code 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA).

The GFE shows the cost of items and services that are reasonably expected for your healthcare needs at the time the service was created. This can change over time or as needs change.
